The center processes about 33,000 inmates per year and has a capacity of roughly 1,250 beds. Four buildings make up the facility, with the original Tower A building still in use.

Over 700 cameras monitor the facility from a central control room. All visitors must pass through a metal detector and bag scan. The detention center uses a video-only visitation system to reduce contraband.

Note: Inmates must be in custody at least 72 hours before they can receive visits at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
